Honouring our Ugandan Directors
This bonus newsletter has one specific purpose: to honour three of our dear friends as they conclude their formal roles as directors with Omughisa Rwenzori and step into an exciting new venture as Founding Directors of Rwenzori Foothills Community Development Initiative.
Ithungu Teddy
Teddy has spent her life in classrooms, formerly as a teacher at Musasa Primary School, and now as Head Teacher at Bughungu Primary School. With a firm belief in the dignity and possibility that education offers, Teddy has always advocated for safe, supportive learning environments, making sure our projects align with the hopes that families have for their children’s future. Her vision continues to guide and inspire us.
Kasibirehe Joseph
Joseph’s extensive knowledge of local systems, gained through his years of work as Logistics Manager for Bukonzo Joint Coffee Collective, has been invaluable. He leads with fairness and consistency, and his calm, reliable presence and attention to detail have strengthened our ability to deliver projects with integrity. His contributions have been integral to the progress we’ve made together.
Mbusa Chrispus
Chris is a Master Carpenter, instructor, and mentor whose influence stretches far beyond the workshop. At both Muhokya and Kyarumba Carpentry Training Centres, he has shaped a generation of young artisans, encouraging their confidence and increasing their potential with every lesson. As a director, he led with humility and practical wisdom, strengthening our organisation through his solid work ethic and quiet, steady guidance.
As Teddy, Joseph, and Chris begin their new chapter with Rwenzori Foothills, we offer our sincere appreciation for their leadership and service. Their impact on Omughisa Rwenzori is lasting, and their commitment remains a gift to the communities we serve together.
Our 15-years-long collaboration will continue in this new form, as two independent organisations, positioning us both for the long term. Their integrity and fundamental decency have informed who we are, and provide a blueprint for our partnership in the work ahead.
