Muhokya & Kyarumba
The Muhokya Carpentry Training Centre builds on a foundation first laid in Kyarumba, where the original workshop introduced young people to practical carpentry skills, mentorship, and the confidence that comes from creating something with their own hands. What began as a small training space in Kyarumba has grown into a wider vocational network, with Muhokya now serving as a second hub for skills development and community opportunity.
At both centres, trainees learn carpentry, furniture making, and safe tool use. Graduates from Kyarumba and Muhokya are already repairing homes, supporting nearby schools, and starting small businesses that keep income and talent rooted in the community.
In 2026, the program expanded to meet even more of the priorities voiced by youth and parents. Alongside carpentry, trainees can now pursue vocational training in tailoring, hairdressing, catering, and beekeeping. These new pathways open doors for young people with different interests and strengths, ensuring that every learner can find a trade that fits their goals and contributes to the wellbeing of their community.
