Providing skills training to girls and young women in the remote village of Kyarumba, in western Uganda through the St. Mbaga Vocational Institute.

The courses are geared specifically to girls, many as young as 14, who have experienced a disruption in their education due to early pregnancy. While we support them in their efforts to return to school, realistically speaking, circumstances do not always allow them to complete their formal education. These courses will give them the opportunity to learn a marketable skill so that they may provide for their families.
Each course will take place over a period of three months. Initially, classes will be offered in Tailoring, Hairdressing, Catering, and Soapmaking. We will be adding additional training and education in life skills such as business and financial management, garden cultivation, nutrition, health, gender equality awareness, and family planning, as funding becomes available. Qualified instructors will be enlisted from the local community whenever possible. There are no fees or means testing required.
The primary facilitator and Program Supervisor of this group is Teddy Ithungu, Head Teacher of Bughungu Primary School in Kyarumba. She is a Director of Omughisa Rwenzori Community Development Society, and reports directly to the Society on a monthly basis.
